Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box (85g / 3 oz) lemon Jell-O
  • 1 packet (7g / 0.25 oz) unflavored gelatin
  • 1 cup (240ml) boiling water
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) vanilla vodka
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) cold water
  • 1 box (85g / 3 oz) orange Jell-O
  • 1 packet (7g / 0.25 oz) unflavored gelatin
  • 1 cup (240ml) boiling water
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) vanilla vodka
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) cold water
  • 2 packets (14g / 0.5 oz) unflavored gelatin
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup (240ml) boiling water
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) vanilla vodka
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) cold water

Instructions

  1. Arrange 24 shot glasses on a rimmed baking sheet.
  2. For the yellow layer: In a small bowl, combine lemon Jell-O and 1 packet unflavored gelatin. Add 1 cup boiling water and whisk for 2 minutes until dissolved. Add 1/4 cup cold water and 1/2 cup vanilla vodka, whisk again. Let cool 5 minutes. Pour about 1 tablespoon into each shot glass, filling one-third full. Chill for at least 45 minutes until firm.
  3. For the orange layer: In a clean bowl, combine orange Jell-O and 1 packet unflavored gelatin. Add 1 cup boiling water and whisk for 2 minutes. Add 1/4 cup cold water and 1/2 cup vanilla vodka, whisk again. Let cool 5 minutes. Once yellow layer is set, pour orange mixture on top, filling another one-third. Chill for 45 minutes to 1 hour.
  4. For the white layer: In a clean bowl, combine 2 packets unflavored gelatin with 1/4 cup cold water. Let bloom for 2 minutes. Add 1 cup boiling water and whisk until dissolved. Add 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk and 1/2 cup vanilla vodka, whisk until smooth. Let cool 5 minutes. Pour on top of set orange layer, filling glasses to the top. Chill for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  5. Serve directly in shot glasses or run a thin knife around the edge to pop them out for a fancier presentation.

Notes

Patience is key—each layer must be fully set before adding the next. Use boiling water for proper gelatin dissolution. Let mixtures cool to warm before pouring to avoid melting previous layers. For precise pouring, use a squeeze bottle. These can be made up to 5 days in advance and taste better after a day or two.
