A simple and juicy slow cooker shredded chicken recipe seasoned with ranch mix, perfect for easy weeknight meals and meal prep.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 45 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 packet (about 1 oz) ranch seasoning mix
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) chicken broth
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • Optional: fresh chopped parsley or chives for garnish

Instructions

  1. Rinse and pat dry the chicken breasts to help the seasoning stick better.
  2. In a small bowl, combine ranch seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper.
  3. Place chicken breasts in the slow cooker in a single layer. Sprinkle seasoning mix evenly over the chicken.
  4. Pour chicken broth around the edges of the slow cooker, avoiding pouring directly on the chicken.
  5. Cover and cook on LOW for 6-7 hours, until chicken reaches 165°F (74°C) and is tender enough to shred.
  6. Shred the chicken using two forks or shredding claws directly in the crockpot. Stir to mix with juices.
  7. Optional: Stir in a tablespoon of cream cheese or a splash of sour cream for creaminess. Garnish with parsley or chives.
  8. Serve immediately or store for later use.

Notes

Do not skip the chicken broth to keep the chicken moist. Cook on low heat to avoid dryness. Shred while warm for best texture. Reserve some cooking liquid to moisten shredded chicken if needed. Fresh ranch seasoning packets provide better flavor than old ones. Can substitute chicken thighs but monitor cooking time.
