These creepy witch finger pretzels are made with just four ingredients and about 20 minutes of active time. They’re perfect for Halloween parties, with a salty pretzel crunch against creamy white chocolate and almond ‘nails’.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bag (about 12 ounces) pretzel rods
  • 12 ounces white chocolate melting wafers
  • 2430 whole raw almonds (with skins on)
  • Green or purple sanding sugar (optional, for ‘dirt’)
  • Red gel food coloring (optional, for ‘blood’)

Instructions

  1. Prep your workspace: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat. Have pretzel rods, almonds, and decorations ready.
  2. Prepare the almond nails: Sort through almonds and pick out ones that look like fingernails—pointed on one end, slightly curved.
  3. Melt the white chocolate: Place white chocolate melting wafers in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring well between each, until completely smooth.
  4. Dip the pretzel rods: Dip each pretzel rod into melted white chocolate, leaving about an inch undipped at the bottom for the ‘wrist’. Let excess drip off, then place on prepared baking sheet.
  5. Add the almond nails: While chocolate is still wet, use tweezers to place an almond at the tip of each pretzel, pointed end extending slightly beyond the tip.
  6. Create knobby details: Transfer remaining melted white chocolate to a piping bag or zip-top bag with a tiny corner snipped off. Pipe small dots and lines along the pretzel to create knuckles and wrinkles.
  7. Add ‘dirt’ and details: While piped chocolate is still wet, sprinkle on sanding sugar. Add tiny dabs of red gel food coloring at cuticle areas if desired.
  8. Let them set: Allow pretzels to set completely at room temperature for 15-20 minutes until chocolate is firm and no longer shiny.
  9. Final touches: Once set, add additional details like red gel at almond tips for a bloody effect if desired.

Notes

Use high-quality white chocolate melting wafers for best results. Avoid refrigerating as condensation can dull the chocolate. Work in small batches if making a large quantity. For vegan version, use dairy-free white chocolate and skip almonds or use dried banana slices.
