This festive Christmas tree charcuterie board is a stunning, crowd-pleasing appetizer that comes together in under 20 minutes. Made with simple ingredients like crackers, cheese, salami, and fresh produce, it’s a visual centerpiece that will impress your holiday guests.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3–4 sprigs fresh rosemary
  • 30–40 fresh crackers (mix of Ritz and Triscuits)
  • 8–10 slices cheese (cheddar, Gouda, or Swiss), cut into triangles or squares
  • 20–30 slices salami or pepperoni
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • Handful fresh basil leaves
  • 1 slice yellow bell pepper, cut into a star shape
  • 1/2 cup black olives
  • 1/2 cup pickles or gherkins, sliced into rounds
  • 1 cup grapes (red or green)
  • 1/2 cup nuts (almonds or walnuts)
  • Small bowls of honey mustard, ranch, or hummus for dipping

Instructions

  1. Prep your ingredients: Wash and dry grapes, cherry tomatoes, and basil. Slice cheese into small triangles or squares. Cut yellow bell pepper into a star shape using a cookie cutter or knife. Set everything aside.
  2. Create the tree trunk: Place rosemary sprigs at the bottom center of your board, pointing upwards, to form the trunk.
  3. Build the base layer: Arrange crackers in a large triangle shape above the rosemary trunk. Use larger crackers for the bottom row and gradually smaller ones as you go up, creating a pyramid shape.
  4. Add the branches: Fill in the triangle with more crackers. Layer in salami and pepperoni, folding or rolling slices and placing them along the edges of the triangle for texture and depth.
  5. Decorate with ornaments: Place cheese triangles, cherry tomato halves, black olives, and pickle slices evenly over the tree. Tuck fresh basil leaves in between for added green.
  6. Place the star: Gently place the yellow bell pepper star at the very top of the tree.
  7. Fill the base: Arrange grapes, nuts, and extra crackers around the bottom of the tree. Place small bowls of dip nearby.
  8. Final touch: Step back and fill any empty spots with extra grapes or nuts. Adjust as needed.

Notes

Assemble the board no more than 30 minutes before serving to keep crackers crunchy. The star is non-negotiable for the ‘wow’ factor. Don’t overthink the shape—real trees are a little uneven. Prep all ingredients before starting for smoother assembly.
