A fun and healthy Halloween fruit platter featuring banana and pear ghosts with a creamy yogurt dip. Perfect for parties, school events, or a festive snack that won’t leave you with a sugar crash.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 34 ripe but firm bananas
  • 23 ripe but firm pears (Bosc or Anjou)
  • 1 cup green grapes
  • 1 cup red grapes
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, halved
  • 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of cinnamon (optional)
  • Black sesame seeds or poppy seeds (optional)
  • Edible googly eyes (optional)
  • Fresh mint leaves (optional)

Instructions

  1. Make the yogurt dip first. In a small bowl, whisk together the Greek yogurt, honey or maple syrup, vanilla extract, and a pinch of cinnamon. Taste and adjust sweetness. Cover and refrigerate.
  2. Wash and dry all the fruit thoroughly. Pat dry with paper towels.
  3. Prep the grapes and strawberries: cut grapes in half lengthwise, halve strawberries if large. Set aside.
  4. Cut the pears into 1/4-inch thick rounds. Use a ghost-shaped cookie cutter to press out shapes. Brush each ghost lightly with lemon juice to prevent browning.
  5. Peel bananas and slice into 1/4-inch rounds. Use the ghost cutter on banana slices, pressing gently. Brush with lemon juice.
  6. Add ghost faces: press two mini chocolate chips into each ghost for eyes. For the mouth, press a third chip sideways or use a tiny dot of yogurt dip to stick on a black sesame seed.
  7. Arrange the platter: place the bowl of yogurt dip in the center. Arrange ghost fruit pieces around the bowl in a circle, alternating banana and pear ghosts. Fill gaps with halved grapes and strawberries. Add mint leaves if desired.
  8. Final touches: sprinkle black sesame seeds around for a ‘spooky dirt’ effect. Add edible googly eyes if using. Serve immediately or refrigerate for up to 2 hours.

Notes

Banana ghosts will start to brown after about an hour, even with lemon juice. Best enjoyed within 2 hours of assembly. For best results, prep everything except bananas and pears in advance, then cut those right before assembling. The yogurt dip can be made a day ahead and stored in the fridge.
