This Ultimate Buffalo Chicken Dip Stuffed Bread Bowl turns a classic dip into a self-contained, shareable feast. Every bite has cheesy, spicy, bread-soaked magic, making it the perfect game-day appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large round sourdough bread loaf (about 1.5 lbs)
  • 2 cups cooked, shredded chicken
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup buffalo wing sauce
  • 1/2 cup ranch or blue cheese dressing
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded Monterey Jack cheese, divided
  • 1/2 cup crumbled blue cheese (optional)
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Cut a circle out of the top of the sourdough loaf, about 2 inches from the edge. Set the lid aside. Gently pull out the soft bread from the inside, leaving a 1-inch thick wall. Tear removed bread into 1-inch chunks and set aside.
  2. Melt the butter and brush the entire inside of the hollowed bread bowl and the lid.
  3. In a large bowl, combine softened cream cheese, buffalo wing sauce, and ranch dressing until smooth.
  4. Add shredded chicken, 3/4 cup cheddar, and 3/4 cup Monterey Jack cheese to the cream cheese mixture. Stir until evenly distributed. Fold in reserved bread chunks.
  5. Spoon the mixture into the hollowed bread bowl, packing gently. Place on a rimmed baking sheet.
  6. Sprinkle remaining 3/4 cup cheddar and 3/4 cup Monterey Jack cheese over the top. Add crumbled blue cheese if using. Place the lid on the baking sheet next to the bowl.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until hot and bubbly and cheese is melted and golden. Tent with foil if browning too fast.
  8. Let rest for 5-10 minutes. Sprinkle with sliced green onions before serving.
  9. Serve immediately with extra bread chunks, tortilla chips, celery, and carrot sticks.

Notes

Don’t skip the butter step—it creates a barrier to prevent sogginess. Let cream cheese soften for smooth mixing. For extra crunch, toast reserved bread chunks with butter and salt for 5-7 minutes while dip bakes. Start checking dip at 20 minutes; tent with foil if top browns too fast.
