These easy turkey and cheese lunchbox wraps are proof that you don’t need a complicated recipe to make something truly delicious and crowd-pleasing. Whether you’re packing lunches for the week, hosting a casual get-together, or just need a quick meal that doesn’t skimp on flavor, this one delivers every time.

Ingredients

  • Large flour tortillas (10-inch)
  • Deli turkey slices (about 4-6 ounces per wrap)
  • Cream cheese (2-3 tablespoons, softened)
  • Cheese slices (2-3 per wrap, such as provolone or Swiss)
  • Lettuce or greens (a handful per wrap, such as romaine or iceberg)
  • Optional crunch element (thin slices of cucumber, red bell pepper, or crushed tortilla chips)
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Soften the cream cheese: Take your cream cheese out of the fridge and let it sit at room temperature for about 10 minutes, or microwave it in a small bowl for 5-10 seconds. You want it spreadable but not melted.
  2. Prepare the tortilla: Lay one large flour tortilla flat on your cutting board. If it’s been in the fridge, let it sit out for a minute or two to come to room temperature. Give it a quick press with your palm to flatten any air bubbles.
  3. Spread the cream cheese: Using your butter knife or offset spatula, spread a thin, even layer of cream cheese over the entire surface of the tortilla, going all the way to the edges. The layer should be about 1/8 inch thick.
  4. Layer the turkey: Place 4-6 slices of deli turkey flat on top of the cream cheese, overlapping them slightly. Cover the entire tortilla surface evenly.
  5. Add the cheese and crunch: Lay 2-3 slices of cheese on top of the turkey, again covering the surface evenly. Then add your lettuce or greens, followed by any optional crunch elements. Don’t overstuff.
  6. Season lightly: Sprinkle a tiny pinch of salt and a few grinds of black pepper over the fillings.
  7. Roll it tight: Start at the bottom edge of the tortilla (the side closest to you). Fold it over the fillings, tucking it under gently with your fingers. Then roll forward, keeping tension on the tortilla so the wrap stays snug. When you reach the end, the seam should be on the bottom.
  8. Wrap and chill: Tightly wrap the completed roll in plastic wrap or parchment paper, twisting the ends like a candy wrapper. Place it in the fridge for at least 5-10 minutes before slicing or packing.
  9. Slice and serve: When ready to serve, unwrap the roll and place it on a cutting board. Use a sharp serrated knife to slice it in half crosswise (for lunchbox wraps) or into 1-inch rounds (for pinwheels).

Notes

The cream cheese layer is crucial to prevent sogginess. For best results, let the wrapped rolls chill in the fridge for at least 10 minutes before slicing. Use a serrated knife for clean cuts. These wraps taste even better the next day as flavors meld.
