This Easy Reese’s Peanut Butter Pumpkin Dump Cake is a no-fuss fall dessert that combines a creamy pumpkin layer with a buttery cake mix topping and melty peanut butter cups. It comes together in under 10 minutes and is perfect for any autumn gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (15 oz) pumpkin puree
  • 1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 box (15.25 oz) yellow cake mix
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 10.5 oz Reese’s peanut butter cups, roughly chopped
  • Optional: chopped pecans or walnuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan lightly with butter or nonstick spray.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together pumpkin puree, evaporated milk, sugar, eggs, pumpkin pie spice, and vanilla extract until smooth. Pour into prepared pan and spread evenly.
  3. Sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix evenly over the pumpkin layer. Do not stir.
  4. Scatter chopped Reese’s peanut butter cups over the dry cake mix. If using nuts, sprinkle them on now.
  5. Drizzle melted butter evenly over the entire surface, covering as much of the cake mix as possible.
  6. Bake for 40-45 minutes, until top is golden brown and slightly cracked, and center is set but slightly jiggly.
  7. Let cool on a wire rack for at least 15-20 minutes before serving. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream, if desired.

Notes

Let the dump cake rest for at least 20 minutes before cutting to allow the filling to set. For a gluten-free version, use a gluten-free yellow cake mix. For a dairy-free version, use dairy-free butter and oat milk or coconut milk in place of evaporated milk.
