These no-bake honey oat protein balls are a quick, healthy snack made with simple pantry ingredients. Ready in just 5 minutes, they’re perfect for busy mornings, post-workout fuel, or a satisfying afternoon pick-me-up.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup vanilla protein powder (optional)
  • 1/4 cup ground flaxseed
  • 1/4 cup dark chocolate chips (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt (if peanut butter is unsalted)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Combine the dry ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, add the rolled oats, ground flaxseed, and protein powder (if using). Stir to distribute evenly. Add salt if using.
  2. Add the wet ingredients: Spoon in the peanut butter, drizzle the honey, and add the vanilla extract. Mix until a thick, sticky dough forms. If too dry, add a teaspoon of honey or a splash of milk; if too sticky, add a tablespoon of oats.
  3. Fold in the chocolate chips: Gently fold in the dark chocolate chips (if using) until evenly distributed.
  4. Chill the dough (optional but recommended): Refrigerate the bowl for 15-30 minutes to make the dough easier to handle.
  5. Roll into balls: Line a baking sheet or plate with parchment paper. Using a small cookie scoop or tablespoon, portion out the dough and roll into 1-inch balls. You should get 12-15 balls.
  6. Chill again: Place the rolled balls on the prepared baking sheet and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to firm up.
  7. Store and enjoy: Transfer to an airtight container. Store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks or freeze for up to 3 months.

Notes

For best texture, use rolled oats and natural peanut butter. Chilling the dough before rolling makes it easier to handle. These balls get better after a day in the fridge as flavors meld. For a vegan version, substitute honey with maple syrup and use plant-based protein powder.
