These mummy pigs in a blanket are a fun and easy Halloween appetizer made with mini smoked sausages wrapped in crescent roll dough, topped with mustard or candy eyes. Perfect for parties, they’re ready in under 30 minutes and always a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (14 oz / 400g) mini smoked sausages (like Lit’l Smokies or Hillshire Farm)
  • 1 can (8 oz / 227g) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) yellow mustard
  • 1 small package (about 24–30 pieces) candy eyes (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon everything bagel seasoning (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line your baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll the crescent roll dough onto a clean cutting board. Press the seams together gently to create one large rectangle.
  3. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut the dough lengthwise into strips about 1/4 inch (6mm) wide. You should get about 12-15 strips.
  4. Take one mini sausage and start wrapping a dough strip around it, leaving small gaps between the layers so it looks like bandages. Start at one end and work your way to the other, overlapping the dough slightly. Leave a small space at the top for the eyes. Press the end of the dough gently to seal. Repeat with all sausages (about 24 mummies).
  5. Arrange the wrapped mummies on the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 1 inch (2.5cm) of space between each one.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until the dough is golden brown and puffy.
  7. Remove from the oven and let cool on the pan for 5 minutes. Then transfer to a cooling rack or serving platter.
  8. While still warm, add the eyes: for candy eyes, press gently into the dough; for mustard eyes, dip a toothpick into mustard and dab a tiny dot onto the exposed sausage at the top of each mummy.
  9. If using, sprinkle a tiny pinch of everything bagel seasoning over each mummy while the dough is still slightly warm.
  10. Serve immediately.

Notes

For best results, keep the crescent roll dough cold while working. If the dough becomes sticky, refrigerate for 5 minutes. You can prep the mummies the night before and bake fresh. To freeze, bake as directed, cool completely, and freeze in a zip-top bag for up to 3 months. Reheat at 350°F for 5-7 minutes.
