These easy mummy hot dogs are the perfect Halloween party recipe. Made with just 3 ingredients, they’re ready in under 30 minutes and guaranteed to be a hit with kids and adults alike.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (8-10) hot dogs (standard-sized, all-beef preferred)
  • 1 can (8-count) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • Mustard or ketchup (for the eyes)
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter (optional, for brushing)
  • Everything bagel seasoning (optional, for sprinkling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Pat the hot dogs dry with a paper towel. If desired, cut them in half crosswise for mini mummies.
  3. Open the crescent roll dough and unroll it along the perforated lines to separate into 8 triangles.
  4. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut each triangle lengthwise into 3-4 thin strips, about 1/2 inch wide.
  5. Take one strip of dough and wrap it around a hot dog at a slight angle, leaving small gaps so the hot dog shows through. Start at one end and work to the other, leaving a small space at the top for the eyes. Repeat with remaining hot dogs.
  6. Place the wrapped hot dogs seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet, leaving about an inch between each.
  7. If using, brush each mummy lightly with melted butter.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until the dough is golden brown and the hot dogs are heated through.
  9. Let the mummies cool for 2-3 minutes on the baking sheet, then transfer to a serving plate.
  10. Use a toothpick or knife tip to make small indentations for the eyes. Add a tiny dot of mustard or ketchup in each indentation.
  11. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

Don’t overwork the dough; handle gently. Leave gaps in the wrapping for the mummy effect. Check baking time at 12 minutes to avoid overbaking. Use room temperature dough for easier handling. Can be wrapped up to 4 hours ahead and refrigerated. Freeze unbaked mummies for up to 2 months.
