A quick and easy recipe for tender salmon fillets coated in a sweet and savory honey garlic glaze, cooked in foil packets for minimal cleanup. Perfect for busy weeknights or cozy dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 salmon fillets (about 6 oz / 170g each)
  • 3 tablespoons honey (60ml)
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (30ml), low-sodium recommended
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (15ml)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Optional garnishes: sliced green onions, sesame seeds, fresh lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Tear off two large sheets of heavy-duty aluminum foil, each about 12-14 inches long. Lightly spray or brush the center of each sheet with oil.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, olive oil, and minced garlic until well combined.
  4. Pat salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Season both sides lightly with salt and black pepper.
  5. Place one salmon fillet in the center of each foil sheet, skin-side down. Spoon half of the honey garlic sauce over each fillet, coating the top and sides.
  6. Fold the foil up and over the salmon, crimp the edges tightly to create a sealed packet, leaving a little room for steam circulation.
  7. Place foil packets on a baking sheet. Bake for 12-15 minutes, depending on thickness, until salmon is opaque and flakes easily with a fork.
  8. Carefully open the foil packets, watching for hot steam. Let rest for 2 minutes. Transfer salmon to plates and spoon remaining sauce from packets over the top. Garnish as desired.

Notes

For best results, let salmon sit at room temperature for 10-15 minutes before cooking. Do not open foil packets early to avoid releasing steam. If sauce is too thin after cooking, simmer in a small saucepan for 1-2 minutes to thicken. For a spicy version, add 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes to the sauce.
