A warm, melty, and impressive appetizer that comes together in under 30 minutes. Golden puff pastry cradles gooey brie topped with tart cranberry sauce and crunchy pecans, perfect for holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 (8-ounce) wheel of brie cheese
  • 1/2 cup cranberry sauce
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (optional)
  • Fresh rosemary or thyme sprigs (for garnish)
  • Assorted crackers, sliced baguette, or apple slices (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Thaw your puff pastry at room temperature for about 30 minutes, or until pliable but still cold.
  3. Gently roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to about a 10×10 inch square.
  4. Place the brie wheel in the center of the pastry.
  5. Spoon the cranberry sauce over the top of the brie, spreading evenly.
  6. Sprinkle the chopped pecans over the cranberry sauce and press them in gently.
  7. Wrap the puff pastry around the brie, bringing the corners up and over the top, pleating as needed. Pinch the seams together to seal.
  8. Brush the entire pastry with the beaten egg.
  9. Score the top of the pastry with a sharp knife or pizza cutter, making a few shallow cuts.
  10. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed and deep golden brown.
  11. Let it rest for 5 minutes before transferring to your serving board.
  12. Drizzle with honey or maple syrup if desired, and garnish with fresh rosemary or thyme sprigs. Serve warm with crackers, baguette slices, or apple slices.

Notes

For a nut-free version, omit the pecans. For a gluten-free adaptation, use gluten-free puff pastry and serve with gluten-free crackers. You can assemble the board up to 24 hours in advance and keep it covered in the refrigerator; brush with egg wash just before baking. If the pastry is browning too quickly, tent loosely with foil for the last 5 minutes of baking.
