These Quick Halloween Deviled Egg Spiders are a spooky, fun, and delicious appetizer that comes together in just 25 minutes. Made with simple ingredients like eggs, mayo, mustard, and olives, they’re perfect for Halloween parties and guaranteed to be a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 large eggs
  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon white vinegar (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Pinch of paprika
  • 12 whole black olives (pitted)
  • 6 pitted black olives, sliced lengthwise into thin strips

Instructions

  1. Boil the eggs: Place 6 eggs in a single layer in a medium saucepan. Cover with cold water by about an inch. Bring to a rolling boil over high heat. Once boiling, cover the pan, remove from heat, and let sit for exactly 12 minutes.
  2. Ice bath: While eggs sit, fill a bowl with ice and cold water. Transfer eggs to ice bath using a slotted spoon. Let chill for at least 5 minutes.
  3. Peel carefully: Tap each egg on the counter to crack the shell all over, then roll between palms to loosen. Start peeling from the wider end. Rinse under cool water and pat dry.
  4. Slice and separate: Slice each egg in half lengthwise. Pop yolks into a small mixing bowl. Arrange egg white halves on serving platter, cut side up.
  5. Make the filling: Add mayonnaise, mustard, vinegar (if using), salt, and pepper to the yolks. Mash with a fork until smooth and creamy. Adjust seasoning to taste.
  6. Fill the eggs: Spoon or pipe the yolk mixture into the egg white halves, forming a nice dome. Leave a little room around the edges for spider legs.
  7. Prepare the spiders: Use 12 whole black olives for spider bodies. Slice 6 additional olives lengthwise into thin strips for legs (about 48 strips total).
  8. Assemble the spiders: Place one whole olive on top of each filled egg white, slightly toward one end. Gently press 4 olive strips into the filling on each side of the whole olive to create legs.
  9. Add eyes (optional): Use a toothpick to place two tiny dots of mayonnaise or sour cream on each olive body for eyes.
  10. Garnish and serve: Sprinkle paprika over the platter. Serve immediately or refrigerate until ready to serve.

Notes

For easy peeling, use eggs that are at least a week old. Pat olives dry before using to prevent olive juice from discoloring the filling. The olive legs may soften if stored too long, so assemble just before serving for best appearance.
