This Easy Caramel Apple Cider Sangria for Two is a quick and simple autumnal drink made with white wine, apple cider, caramel syrup, and fresh fruit. Perfect for a cozy night in, it comes together in under 10 minutes and is sized just right for two.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bottle (750 ml) dry white wine (Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio)
  • 1 cup apple cider (unfiltered preferred)
  • 1/4 cup caramel syrup (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 apple (Honeycrisp or Fuji), thinly sliced
  • 1 pear (Bartlett or Bosc), thinly sliced (optional)
  • 1/2 cup apple cider (for ice cubes)
  • Ice cubes (made from apple cider)
  • 2–3 cinnamon sticks (for garnish)
  • 1–2 star anise (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Make the apple cider ice cubes: The night before (or at least 4 hours ahead), pour the 1/2 cup of apple cider into an ice cube tray and freeze.
  2. Prep the fruit: Wash the apple and pear (if using). Slice them thinly, about 1/4 inch thick. Remove any seeds or tough cores.
  3. Combine the liquid base: In a large pitcher, pour the entire bottle of white wine. Add the 1 cup of apple cider and the 1/4 cup of caramel syrup. Stir gently to combine.
  4. Add the fruit: Drop in the apple and pear slices. Use a muddler or wooden spoon to gently press down on the fruit a few times to release juices.
  5. Chill (optional but recommended): Refrigerate the pitcher for 30 minutes to let the flavors meld.
  6. Serve: Fill two glasses with the apple cider ice cubes. Pour the sangria over the ice, making sure to get some fruit slices in each glass. Add a cinnamon stick and a star anise to each glass for garnish.
  7. Enjoy immediately: This sangria is best enjoyed fresh, within the first hour.

Notes

For best results, use a dry white wine like Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio. The apple cider ice cubes prevent dilution. If you can’t make them, chill all ingredients beforehand. Adjust sweetness by reducing or increasing caramel syrup to taste. The sangria can be made up to 24 hours in advance; add ice cubes just before serving.
