These crispy baked skewers combine smoked sausage, cheese, and roasted potatoes with a sweet and smoky honey mustard glaze. Perfect for one-handed game day snacking, they come together in under 35 minutes and are always the first thing to disappear.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb baby potatoes, halved or quartered
  • 12 oz smoked sausage or kielbasa, cut into 1-inch chunks
  • 8 oz cheddar or Gouda cheese, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • Fresh rosemary sprigs, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Wooden or metal skewers

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a sheet pan with parchment paper or foil.
  2. Parboil the potatoes: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add halved baby potatoes and cook for 8-10 minutes until fork-tender but still holding shape. Drain and cool slightly.
  3. Make the glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, honey, Dijon mustard, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and a pinch of salt and pepper.
  4. Toss the potatoes and sausage: In a medium bowl, combine parboiled potatoes and sausage chunks. Drizzle with half the glaze and toss gently to coat. Reserve remaining glaze.
  5. Assemble skewers: Thread ingredients onto skewers in a repeating pattern: potato, sausage, cheese cube, rosemary sprig. Leave space between pieces. Place on prepared sheet pan.
  6. Bake for 15 minutes until sausage browns and cheese is soft.
  7. Brush with remaining glaze and flip skewers. Return to oven for 5-7 minutes.
  8. Optional: Broil for 2 minutes for caramelized finish. Watch closely.
  9. Let rest for 2 minutes before serving.
  10. Serve immediately, garnished with extra rosemary if desired.

Notes

Soak wooden skewers in water for 20 minutes before assembling to prevent burning. Parboiling potatoes is essential for crispy texture. Assemble skewers up to 24 hours ahead and refrigerate; add glaze just before baking. For best results, serve hot and fresh. Double the batch for a crowd.
