These adorable mummy-shaped jalapeño popper crescents are a guaranteed hit for Halloween. They combine a creamy, tangy, and slightly spicy filling with flaky crescent dough, all wrapped up in a cute, festive package.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 23 jalapeños, seeded and finely diced
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 cans (8 oz each) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 24 candy eyeballs
  • Ranch dressing or blue cheese dressing, for dipping (optional)
  • Fresh chives or parsley, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. Finely dice your jalapeños. Remove seeds and white membranes for a milder flavor. For a deeper flavor, sauté the diced jalapeños in a dry skillet over medium heat for 1-2 minutes until they just start to soften. Set aside to cool slightly.
  3. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar, mayonnaise, sautéed (or raw) jalapeños, garlic powder, and onion powder. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix until well combined and smooth.
  4. Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it along the perforated lines. You should have 8 triangles per can. Take one triangle and cut it lengthwise into three long, thin strips.
  5. Place a generous teaspoonful of the cream cheese mixture in the center of one of the dough strips. Fold the strip over the filling, then wrap the remaining strips around it in a criss-cross pattern, leaving a small space at the top for the eyes. Repeat with the remaining dough strips and filling.
  6. Place the assembled mummies on the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 2 inches of space between each one. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the crescent dough is golden brown and puffed.
  7. Remove the mummies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for 2-3 minutes. While they are still warm, gently press two candy eyeballs into the exposed area of the filling at the top of each mummy.
  8. Transfer the mummies to a serving platter. Serve warm with ranch dressing or blue cheese dressing for dipping.

Notes

For best results, ensure cream cheese is softened to room temperature. Sautéing the jalapeños mellows their bite and brings out sweetness. Assemble up to 24 hours in advance and refrigerate; add 1-2 minutes to baking time if baking from cold. Reheat in oven or air fryer for best texture.
