Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and sifted powdered sugar with a hand mixer on medium speed until smooth, fluffy, and free of lumps, about 2-3 minutes. Scrape down the sides of the bowl halfway through.
  2. Add the vanilla extract and beat on low speed just until incorporated.
  3. Add the thawed whipped topping to the cream cheese mixture. Using a rubber spatula, gently fold it in until the mixture is uniform, pale, and airy. Do not stir vigorously.
