A quick and easy copycat recipe for a brown sugar oat milk shaken espresso that comes together in under 5 minutes. Shake everything together for a perfectly integrated, velvety, sweet-and-bitter coffee drink.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 shots espresso (or 1/2 cup strong brewed coffee)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup oat milk (barista edition recommended)
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • Pinch of cinnamon (optional)
  • Splash of vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. Brew your espresso or strong coffee using a Moka pot, espresso machine, or AeroPress.
  2. While the coffee is brewing, add the brown sugar (and cinnamon and vanilla if using) to a mason jar or cocktail shaker.
  3. Pour the hot espresso directly over the brown sugar and stir briefly to help dissolve.
  4. Add the oat milk and ice cubes to the jar.
  5. Secure the lid tightly and shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds until the mixture is frothy and well-integrated.
  6. Pour into a serving glass (or drink straight from the jar).
  7. Optional: Sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon on top or add a drizzle of brown sugar syrup.

Notes

For best results, use room temperature oat milk and let the espresso cool for about 30 seconds before adding to the jar to prevent separation. Don’t over-shake; 15-20 seconds is ideal. If the drink tastes watery, reduce shaking time or use larger ice cubes. For a less sweet version, reduce brown sugar to 1 tablespoon or use a sugar-free substitute.
