This kid-friendly mocktail combines apple cider, melted caramel candies, fresh fruit, and cinnamon for a cozy, sweet fall drink that comes together in under 10 minutes. Perfect for family gatherings, it’s a crowd-pleaser that both kids and adults love.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups (950 ml) apple cider, divided
  • 1/2 cup (about 1215 pieces) caramel candies
  • 1 large apple (Honeycrisp or Fuji), thinly sliced
  • 1 medium orange, thinly sliced
  • 23 cinnamon sticks, broken in half
  • 2 cups (475 ml) ginger ale
  • Caramel sauce for rimming glasses (optional)
  • Ice cubes as needed

Instructions

  1. Warm 1 cup (240 ml) of the apple cider in a small saucepan over medium-low heat until warm but not boiling, about 2 minutes.
  2. Add the caramel candies to the warm cider and stir continuously with a wooden spoon until fully melted and smooth, about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Pour the remaining 3 cups (710 ml) of apple cider into a large pitcher. Add the warm caramel-cider mixture and stir well.
  4. Add the sliced apple, sliced orange, and cinnamon sticks to the pitcher. Stir gently to distribute the fruit.
  5. Refrigerate the pitcher for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
  6. Just before serving, pour the ginger ale into the pitcher and stir gently.
  7. Optional: For a fancy touch, dip the rims of glasses in caramel sauce. Let set for a minute.
  8. Fill each glass with ice cubes, pour the sangria over the ice, and add a few fruit slices to each glass using a slotted spoon. Serve immediately.

Notes

For best flavor, use fresh unfiltered apple cider. Do not boil the cider when melting caramels to prevent graininess. Add ginger ale just before serving to keep the fizz. The sangria can be prepared without ginger ale up to 24 hours in advance; flavors deepen overnight. For an adult version, add 1/2 cup (120 ml) bourbon or dark rum before chilling.
