Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless pork chops, about 1-inch thick
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper, freshly ground
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon dried thyme
  • 2 medium apples, peeled and diced (Honeycrisp or Granny Smith)
  • ¼ cup finely diced red onion
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ⅛ teaspoon ground cloves (optional)
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Pat the pork chops dry with paper towels. In a small bowl, mix salt, pepper, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and dried thyme. Rub olive oil over the chops, then sprinkle seasoning evenly on both sides. Let rest at room temperature for 10 minutes.
  2. In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add diced red onion and cook for about 2 minutes until softened. Add diced apples, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, cinnamon, cloves (if using), and a pinch of salt. Stir, bring to a gentle simmer, then reduce heat to medium-low. Cook for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until apples are soft and liquid is syrupy. Remove from heat and set aside.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (about 3 minutes).
  4. Place seasoned pork chops in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook at 375°F for 8 minutes, then flip and cook for another 5-7 minutes, until internal temperature reaches 145°F.
  5. Let pork chops rest on a cutting board for 5 minutes.
  6. Serve each pork chop with a generous spoonful of apple chutney on top.

Notes

For best results, use pork chops at least 1-inch thick. The chutney can be made up to 3 days ahead and reheated. If you don’t have an air fryer, bake at 400°F for 15-18 minutes or pan-sear in a cast-iron skillet.
