A simple, elegant charcuterie board featuring fresh figs, prosciutto, aged gouda, brie, blue cheese, and a drizzle of honey. Perfect for an intimate evening at home, this no-cook recipe comes together in under 15 minutes and is endlessly customizable.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 68 fresh figs, halved
  • 46 thin slices prosciutto
  • 4 oz aged gouda or manchego
  • 4 oz soft-ripened cheese like brie or camembert
  • 2 oz blue cheese like gorgonzola or roquefort (optional)
  • 34 tablespoons high-quality honey
  • ½ cup mixed nuts (almonds, walnuts, pecans)
  • ¼ cup dried apricots or dates
  • 20 pieces crackers or crostini
  • Fresh herbs for garnish (rosemary or thyme sprigs)
  • Flaky sea salt (a pinch)

Instructions

  1. Take the cheeses out of the refrigerator 20 minutes before you start to let them come to room temperature.
  2. Rinse the figs gently and pat them dry. Trim off the very tip of the stem, then slice each fig in half lengthwise. If the figs are large, quarter them. Set aside.
  3. Slice the aged gouda or manchego into thin triangles or small cubes, about ¼-inch thick. Leave part of the wedge intact and fan out the slices next to it.
  4. Place the brie or camembert whole on the board. Optionally, score the top in a crosshatch pattern and drizzle a tiny bit of honey over it.
  5. Crumble the gorgonzola or roquefort into small chunks, keeping some pieces larger for visual interest. Place them in a small cluster near the soft cheese.
  6. Fold each slice of prosciutto into loose ribbons or waves. Arrange the ribbons in a zigzag pattern across one section of the board.
  7. In a small dry skillet over medium heat, toast the almonds, walnuts, and pecans for 2-3 minutes, shaking the pan frequently, until fragrant. Let cool for 2 minutes.
  8. Place small bowls of honey, nuts, and dried fruit on the board asymmetrically. Add the cheeses, spacing them out. Fill in the gaps with the figs, prosciutto ribbons, and crackers.
  9. Drizzle a generous ribbon of honey over the figs and the soft cheese. Sprinkle a pinch of flaky sea salt over the figs and honey-drizzled areas. Tuck fresh herb sprigs between the ingredients.
  10. Serve immediately. Best enjoyed within an hour of assembly.

Notes

Let cheeses sit at room temperature for 20-30 minutes before serving for best flavor and texture. Don’t overcrowd the board—leave breathing room between clusters. Toast nuts just before serving for maximum crunch. Use a mild honey like clover or orange blossom so it doesn’t overpower the figs. A pinch of flaky sea salt on the figs makes a surprising difference. Prep components a day ahead, but assemble just before serving.
